EQUIVANT CORRECTIONS

The History of The Northpointe Suite and How It Became equivant Corrections

By: Greg Eash, COO of equivant Corrections

In 2011, Northpointe, Inc. was acquired by Constellation Software, but continued to use the name Northpointe until January of 2017. At that point, because multiple companies operate in our larger portfolio and provide software solutions to various functions of the Criminal Justice process, a decision was made to make some branding changes to be inclusive of all those applications. That conversation spawned our brand label; equivant. Today, each of the individual companies in our umbrella brand continue to operate independently, but can collectively provide a comprehensive software solution for any county in the country.

The decision to rebrand as equivant was driven by a desire to better align the company’s identity with its evolving mission and values. The name “equivant” encapsulates the concepts of equality and advancement, emphasizing the company’s dedication to creating a fairer and more effective justice system through technological solutions. equivant continues to build on Northpointe’s legacy by offering a comprehensive suite of software solutions and services designed to enhance decision-making, improve outcomes, and promote efficiency across various facets of the justice system.

equivant’s portfolio includes inmate classification tools and a comprehensive jail management software package for jails, risk and needs assessments, case management, and pretrial software for probation, parole, and pretrial agencies. These solutions are designed to support law enforcement agencies, courts, correctional facilities, and community supervision programs in their efforts to manage and rehabilitate individuals. The rebranding also underscores equivant’s commitment to addressing contemporary challenges in the justice system, such as reducing bias, enhancing staff and public safety, and promoting rehabilitation and reintegration.

By rebranding to equivant, the company aims to signal its forward-looking approach and its dedication to driving positive change within the justice system. The transition to equivant marks a new chapter in the company’s history, one that builds on its past achievements while striving to meet the evolving needs of the justice community.
